SUMMARY:OMEA: Infusing Dalcroze Eurhythmics into the Choral Rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:This hands-on session will provide movement exercises and techniques rooted in the Dalcroze philosophy to enhance the choral experience. A choral educator’s practice is full of complexities including teaching large numbers of students a multitude of skills, concepts, and behaviors. Dalcroze Eurhythmics can serve as an effective tool in efficiently reaching students to achieve the most musical product and engage students in meaningful ways. The three main goals of the session are rhythmic integrity, which sets the foundation for all musically artistic endeavors, expressive singing, which connects the body and the soul of the singer, and social connection, which is at the heart of a choral program  Specifically, focus activities, solfège activities, and applications to repertoire will be experienced  A Dalcroze-infused choral rehearsal can bring new energy to the choir and provide new ways of learning for each choral singer.\n
