SUMMARY:Uniting Dalcroze Eurhythmics with Social Emotional Learning in the Choral Classroom
DESCRIPTION:Participants will experience the five components of SEL – self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, responsible decision-making, and emotional behavior through the lens of purposeful movement. Dalcroze Eurhythmics serves as the vehicle for combining the physical, cognitive, and affective domains into meaningful experiences that support and strengthen the SEL philosophy. Joy and relaxation, as well as making personal, creative choices are foundational elements in a eurhythmics classroom. The component of “feeling” the rhythmic or expressive components in music are key objectives in the Dalcroze philosophy. Building community through small and large group activities will also be experienced in this session. Many of the activities may also be used in remote teaching situations.\n
